Sybil Zuckerman is the oldest member of our adult B’nai Mitzvah class. She is a very motivated, enthusiastic student and her Hebrew reading is smooth, articulate, and simply lovely.
She practices a lot!
Sybil said: “Put your worksheet next to your toaster. In the morning, while you’re waiting, read through. By the time the toast pops, you said it at least once.”
I did it today and since I like my toast on a very dark setting, I got one round of my Torah portion in! What a great feeling of accomplishment before 7 a.m.
(The other thing I learned is that while the rest of the world is fearing carbs, Jews are still eating toast.)
I had already heard good news as I checked my voicemail messages while walking the dog at what Celebrity Fit Club drill sergeant Harvey Walden would call “0-Dark-Thirty,” so I think it’s going to be a great day.
